Texas Holdem Player Types
|
There are several categories that internet poker players fit into and it’s important to your success that you can place your opponents in one of the categories, but before you can do that you need to know what the categories are and how those players usually act. Once you learn that then you’ll be able to read people at the table and you’ll have an idea of how they’ll play. This can help you maximize wins and minimize your losses which is the goal in playing poker. In all there are five separate categories that players can be classified under, but this doesn’t mean they will always play this way. Good players try to switch up there style often to keep everyone else guessing. The Caller The caller is the player that will call pots down to the river very often and then either continue betting or fold once they don’t have anything. This is a horrible category to be categorized under and you’ll want to avoid this at all costs. However, these www.FullTiltPoker.com players are very easy money and you should be able to make some money once you can find a player that fits this category. Loose A loose player will typically raise most hands pre-flop and also make a continuation bet after the flop no matter what they have. These players are very easy to trap once you hit a couple good hands and you shouldn’t pose any problems winning some money from these players. No Limit Texas Holdem isn’t designed for loose players really either especially cash table games. This type of player typically loses the most except for the odd day when they hit some cards and win. Overall these players loose money though and you don’t want to become a loose aggressive player. Rock A rock is a www.PokerStars.com player who rarely plays any hands at all except for the premium hands. This playing style is great for not losing much money, but you might not win much money either. When you play like a rock and don’t play any hands at all really when you do play a hand it’ll scare most people away. This means you won’t make any money on your premium cards due to everyone being scared that you’re in a pot. I don’t recommend this playing style, it is better then the first two, but not the best by far. Weak A weak player is often tight although not quite as tight as the rock players. The difference with the weak player is that they play more pots, but they also get scared in big pots. Weak players are scared of action and losing too much money in a hand and they often fold to big bets or raises. This type of style isn’t good for you at all as you’ll lose money by calling bets to the flop and then folding to big bets. These losses add up and in no time you would be out of a bankroll. Tight A tight pkr.com player is the perfect player in Texas Holdem to be categorized under. This player doesn’t play many hands, but they play enough that opponents aren’t scared when there in a pot. This player also isn’t scared of splashing chips around when they have a premium hand and they also don’t back down. They make there money by winning a few big hands everyday and that is all they do. It’s the safest and most profitable playing style out there, so if you’re playing poker to make some money then become this player. |
